Founded in 1908, the Wilmette Park District is dedicated to the enrichment of community life through creative programming for people of all ages and abilities, while protecting open space and natural resources for future generations.

It’s the treasured entity that brings our community together. The Park District oversees 314.4 acres of parks and playground properties, including a large aquatic center; indoor and outdoor ice rinks; tennis, platform tennis, fitness and golf clubs; a preschool; myriad arts, sports and general interest programs for all ages (including a wide variety of summer camp options); a nature center; and, the crown jewel: our spectacular lakefront. All of these features combine to make our Park District one of the primary reasons people want to live in, and continue to move to, our community.

The Park District also owns and operates many facilities in Wilmette, including the Community Recreation Center at 3000 Glenview Road; Centennial Recreation Complex at 2300 Old Glenview Road (home of Ice, Tennis and Aquatics); the Mallinckrodt Community Center at 1041A Ridge Road; the Wilmette Golf Club at 3900 Fairway Drive; the Wilmette Platform Tennis Club at 3551 Lake Avenue; and the Lakeview Center, Wallace Bowl and Gillson Beach House, located in Gillson Park on the lakefront.

Residents receive a publication titled Explore! in the mail three times a year which details Park District programs and special events. Separate Wilmette Tennis Club and Summer Camp Guides are mailed out annually.
